|Growing up in Muskegon County as the youngest of five children, raised by a single mother, he learned the value of hard work, the joy of a loving family, and the importance of respecting and appreciating all persons regardless of social situation. The family had little, but always shared what little they had with others even less fortunate.
Things were hard in those days and Dean earned money picking fruits and vegetables and working in a gas station to pay for school needs and to help with family expenses. After graduating from community college Dean worked at Continental Motors as a UAW technician. He continued his education nights and eventually earned bachelors and masters degrees in engineering and business administration respectively.
Dean put his skills to work, and with much dedication, rose through the ranks of management to lead multi-state and international activities for his company and achieve the position of executive director and a member of his company's leadership team. After 34 years of service he retired in 2010 to spend more time with family.
In his spare time Dean runs, bike rides, works on many projects and enjoys spending time with family and friends. Dean lives in Spring Lake. His children and three beautiful grandchildren all live in West Michigan.
